A modem is a device that MODulates and DEModulates data signals and converts them into a format suitable for transmission. Cable modems and DSL modems are often used to convert the data. This is an additional device within the data path and the conversion process takes time. QCOL does not use or need to convert your data for transmission over our fiber optic lines.
QCOL installed our first FTTH network in 2004 and have been working to fine tune and improve it ever since. There were very few companies doing FTTH when we started and our experience allows us to deliver a solid and quality product to our customers. There are very few people in the FTTH industry that have veen doing this as long as we have.
Copper and coax lines used by other providers are affected by moisture and temperature swings. Satellite dishes are impacted by clouds and ice buildup. Fiber optic service operates perfectly under all these conditions.
Receiving multiple bills, making separate payments and having different due dates with multiple service providers is time-consuming. QCOL sends one bill for all services. Bills are sent around the 15th of each month. Payment is due by the 1st. Don't worry though, we have a grace period and won't consider payment late until the 11th of the month.
QCOL staff is not routinely scheduled to work at our offices on evenings, weekends and holidays. We think promoting time with families is important. That doesn't mean we do not work evenings, weekends or holidays. On-call techs monitor our network, email and voicemail regularly and respond promptly based upon the severity of issues. We might call you back from a family picnic or our kid's birthday party. You might hear our dog or baby in the background but we will typically respond sooner than some providers answer their phones.
